What kind of paint is best?

Matte, Eggshell, Satin, Semigloss are all ideal paint choices. We DO NOT recommend primer or textured paint as it will not stick well to these types of surfaces. Your painted wall should be cured for 2 to 4 days before you apply the decal. This ensures that the decal can be removed without any damage to the wall. If the Wall Tattoo™ is applied to an uncured wall, the decal and the paint may adhere together, taking off the paint upon removal.

What exactly is a wall tattoo?

Our Wall Tattoos™ are cut from a specialized vinyl that is specifically designed for home décor. Unlike standard high gloss signage vinyl, our product has a matte finish that gives a gorgeous painted look without bleeding or permanency. The edges are crisp, the effect is stunning, and the material is removable without leaving behind any trace of adhesive. Perfect for the temporary renter or for people who change their mind with the seasons.

Will the decal leave a residue, or cause any damage when removed?

The glue that holds the wall decal in place is strong, but not gooey, so there won’t be any remnants left on the surface after removal. But, because we don’t know the condition of all wall surfaces, we don’t guarantee that some paint flecking will not occur. It is possible, but not likely, that you may notice paint flecks on the back of the Wall Tattoos when removed. If so, some minor paint touch up may be required.

Do you have a storefront?

How long from order placement to delivery?

Items shipped within 7 to 12 Business Days if it is not in stock. A tracking number will be emailed to confirm delivery times once item has been shipped.

How much is shipping?

We ship worldwide via Canada Post. Canadian shipping costs are calculated using an Expedited service. Shipping rates for the US are sent via small packet at a flat shipping rate of $15. While this is the same reliable Canada Post Express Service no tracking numbers are available with this service. This does not include duties, brokerage or customs fees and import taxes.

Can I "rush" my order?

We charge a rush fee of $20 per item to ship within one (1) business day. Please email production@surfacecollective.com once your order has been placed and we will apply this charge to your order.

How do I remove the decal?

Easy way: Use your fingernails to pry away a corner of the decal & peel away slowly at a 45 degree angle. Easier yet: Take a blow dryer and a pair of tweezers to lift a corner of the decal while aiming the blow-dryer at the same area. The adhesive will release as it gets heated. Continue peeling at a 45 degree angle as you heat the vinyl. Our wall vinyl is intended for it's removability on a painted wall so mostly likely a simple pick and peel will do the trick without any damage to your walls or traces of residue.

Can I re-stick my wall tattoo?

Surface Wall Tattoos are for one-time use only with the level of detail we put into our designs. If you're careful you can remove and reapply basic shapes but it is not recommended.

Besides a wall, where else can I install a Wall Tattoo?

Wall Tattoos are ideal for most smooth, flat surfaces like: mirrors, walls, glass, table tops, plastic, finished wood and plexi-glass. You can put your decal on a car as well and it will resist the elements. spray a bit of water onto the decal before placing on any non-porous surfaces such as glass/plastic/metal surfaces to avoid bubbling. Use your credit card or a hard plastic tool to push out water/bubbles as you applying to ensure a smooth application. Let it dry before removing. Our laptop line is also intended to work on Game Consoles, Printers, Speakers, Guitars, Skateboards or Helmets to name a few.

Are there surfaces for which my wall tattoo is NOT recommended?

Absolute NOs include: Surfaces such as : Plaster, Cement, Textured surfaces, Stucco, Cardboard, Paper & Fabric surfaces. Why? The decal will stick permanently to paper surfaces, but will not stick to fabric. As for stucco surfaces, the stucco will puncture the vinyl and show through. Textured surfaces will also show through the vinyl.

How long will my wall tattoo last?

If you take care of it, it will last for years. SURFACE Wall Tattoos will last 3 to 5 years in an indoor room, and 2 to 3 years if placed outdoors. Given that direct heat can release the adhesive and may cause the Wall Tattoos to peel up, we recommend that you try to keep your wall decal away from direct sunlight.

Can I put my decal in a bathroom?

Yes- Wall Tattoos are durable enough to withstand moisture and steam.

h4>How much does SURFACE charge for colour changes?

If you want a design with a custom colour, we charge $10. You can choose a custom color directly in our product section. Just click on the 'Custom Color' button and choose which color you'd like each section to be.

How much does SURFACE charge for custom resizing?

We can re-size any of our designs for an additional fee. The fee depends on the desired re-size, so just drop us an e-mail at info@surfacecollective.com with details of what you want and we’ll get back to you asap.

Do you take returns?

We don't issue refunds, but we will happily offer an exchange for a product of equal value for any items that are not completely satisfactory, with the exception of custom designs. Exchanges are accepted within 14 days of the date of receipt. Packages must be returned in perfect, undamaged condition. We will not accept returns or exchanges on product that has been cut or altered from its' original state. We don’t offer credit for shipping and handling charges on returned merchandise. All Shipping will be the customers responsibility. Please note all custom orders are final and may not be exchanged or returned, and except in the case of product defect we will not be refunded.
